.NU Domain Hires Former NIC-SE CEO, Launches Free Blogging Service

Stockholm Sweden and Medfield, Mass -- .NU Domain Ltd, the leading commercial Top Level Domain (TLD) registry serving Northern Europe, announced today that Per Darnell, the former CEO of the Swedish TLD NIC-SE, has joined the company as Manager of Nordic operations. As his first action in that role he launched a new service - free blogging for all customers of .NU.

The free blogging service is available in English and in Swedish, Danish and Dutch, the four primary languages spoken in .NU Domain's key market segments. No other blogging service offers blogging software or systems in Swedish, Danish or Dutch.

With this new blogging service, all .NU Domain customers can now quickly and simply publish a journal or diary on the net, as a blog ("Web Log"). "Blogging has exploded across the world over the past several months, and with good reason," said Mr. Darnell. "The simplicity and versatility of the tool means it can be used by many different target groups, including youth, travel agencies, clubs and associations," he said, "and by any person or any business that needs to put information on the Web quickly and easily."

"Blogging systems finally give real people on the Internet a quick and easy way to have a Web site," he added. "And with .NU Domain's system, blog postings can even be made from the road, using any e-mail client or your Cell phone's e-mail gateway."

"The simplicity of the product, together with our unique password protection capability, means .NU Domain customers can start using blogs in entirely new areas," said .NU Domain President J. William Semich, "such as a private Extranet for the family, sports club or other association, or for secure kids' clubs."

Lack of password protection has been a widespread criticism of current blogging systems and services; .NU Domain's blogging service includes password protection as part of its basic service, which is free to all users of .NU Domain names.

"If you have registered a domain name - say, domain.nu," said Semich, "then your free blog site's URL will be domain.blogga.nu - it's that simple."

The free service includes home page templates, password protection, room for your own images (150k), and the opportunity to design a logo of your own, as well the option to use your own html. The ability to post content directly to your blog site via e-mail is also unique to .NU Domain. The service also includes the option to allow blog site visitors to make live comments on the blogs posted there.

The free .NU Domain blogging service will remain active for each .NU domain name for as long as the domain name itself is active (until it expires).

Blogging is one of the fastest growing trends on the Internet. With a blog anybody can quickly and simply post thoughts, ideas, opinions and observations on the web. New texts can be added instantly and chronologically on the home page. The success of the technology is explained by its low price, speed and ease of use. The difference between setting up a Web site complete with home page and using a blog site is that the user of a blog gets a working way to publish on the Internet instantly, without requiring any technical knowledge.
